Speaker expertise

Born 1950 from Ipoh, Malaysia, Chee Koon became a student a the University of Singapore in 1969, graduating with a first class degree in Political Science.  Chee Koon’s career path has always been with national institutions in their founding years, starting with DBS Bank before stopping after 15 years to be a full time homemaker to her growing children.  In 1995 she was tapped  to help the National Heritage Board develop the museum precinct, before being approached  4 years later to start the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre as its founding CEO, to promote the spirit of giving in Singapore. In addition, she sits on the board of a leading bank’s foundation here in Singapore, and is on the editorial team of her church newsletter, to which she occasionally contributes articles.  She retired in 2008 when the first of her 3 grandchildren in Glasgow was born. She has been shuttling between Singapore and Scotland since then until Covid-19. Grounded by the circuit breaker, she recently started a neighbourhood watch group in her residential estate born out of walks in her immediate neighbourhood. Having just turned 70, she considers this the best season of her life, as she uses the Covid  down time to grow an interest in opera, gardening and sourdough bread making.
