Dr. Päivi Sillanaukee

Päivi Sillanaukee (MD, PhD, eMBA) is the thematic Ambassador for Health and Wellbeing at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland as part of a pilot programme of cross-sectoral cooperation on global issues. Dr Sillanaukee is on leave from her duty as the Director-General of the Department of Safety, Security and Health of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland. Dr Sillanaukee served as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry in 2012 - 2019. Between 2008 and 2012, Dr Sillanaukee was the Director General of the Department for Social and Health Services at the Ministry. Previously, she was the Deputy Mayor and Director of Social and Health Services in the City of Tampere, Finland. Between 1990 and 2004, she held clinical and managerial positions in the Pirkanmaa Hospital District and was a member of the Tampere City Council. Dr Sillanaukee is a specialist in public health and management from the University of Helsinki. She has worked on policies to promote public health, social protection and gender equality in the European Union and global levels. She has represented Finland in the WHO Executive Board since May 2018 and served as its first and third Vice Chair from May 2018 to May 2020. She is the co-chair of the Alliance for Health Security Cooperation (AHSC), a member of the Steering Group of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) and a member of Health Advisory Board of the UN Technology Innovation Lab (UNTIL) Finland.

HE Antti Vänskä

Ambassador Antti Vänskä arrived in Singapore in June 2019 to assume his position as Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland. Mr. Vänskä joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in 1996 and has served on several interesting assignments both home and abroad. Prior to Singapore Mr. Vänskä served four years as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Washington DC, USA. Earlier in his career, Mr. Vänskä has worked in the Embassy of Finland in Berlin, Germany (2001 – 2004) and in the Consulate General of Finland in St Petersburg, Russia (1997 – 2001). In Finland, Mr. Vänskä has served, among other positions, as the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Finland (2010-2014). Earlier, he has worked in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director in the Unit for Russia and as Counsellor in the Unit for Asia dealing for instance with relations between the EU and the ASEAN. Mr. Vänskä graduated from Turku School of Economics and Business Administration (Finland) with a Master’s degree in Economics. He has also studied abroad in Sweden and in the United States. Apart from his mother tongue, Finnish, Mr. Vänskä speaks English, Swedish, Russian and German. He is married and has two teenage children.

Ms Meria Heikelä

Meria Heikela is a Director in Business Finland with the responsibility of internationalization of the Finnish health and wellbeing sector companies. Ms Heikelä has a Master of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Turku, Finland, and a Diploma of International Marketing Management as well as several certificates in Leadership and Master Class studies. She has over 25 years of international experience and nearly 30 years of professional experience in Life Sciences, particularly in medical technology and services in healthcare and wellbeing sectors. She also has expertise in global healthcare projects and programs having co-created largescale international health projects in SE-Asia, China , Uk and Gulf. She has lived in the UK over 20 years.

Dr Minna Pikkarainen

Minna Pikkarainen is a joint Connected Health Professor of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and University of Oulu / Faculty of Medicine and Oulu Business School, Martti Ahtisaari Institute. In the current Stroke-Data project (as an example), Pikkarainen is working as the Principal Investigator (PI) and scientific manager leading teams from different research organizations as a purpose to research stroke diagnostics and prevention in the field of Neuroscience. This is done together with the ecosystem of health technology companies, hospitals and researchers from Finland, Singapore and Australia. In her recent projects, the research has been related to the data-driven digital health interventions/innovations, focusing e.g. on lifestyle prevention, surgery care and musculoskeletal disorders. The research publications are related to the needs and problems of patients and clinical experts, web/mobile-based health interventions, tele rehabilitation, emerging technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain), healthcare transformation, business models and ecosystems. Her work has been conducted between Finland, Singapore, EU, US and Australia. Pikkarainen has published more than 100 peer-reviewed international research articles. As the Professor of Connected Health, she has done interdisciplinary research in medical/nursing science, innovation management/service science, and computer science/information systems.

Petteri Joenpolvi has worked over 20 years in international healthtech business in several leadership roles. He is continuously looking at opportunities to improve the quality & efficiency of the healthcare by providing best solutions to his customers use. Latest Petteri has focused on bringing some interesting industrial technologies together e.g. for making Digital rehabilitation and Fully autonomous robotic surgery possible.

Mr Mikko Koivisto

Mikko Koivisto is the Sales and Marketing Director and co-owner of Tukimet Oy. Mikko has an over 20-year experience in manufacturing and selling in global markets. He has been an entrepreneur for more than twelve years and has specialized in the export business. He is also the President of the Board of an insurance company and a metal company in Finland.

Ms Raija Kuisma

I am a physiotherapist by training and have worked as a physiotherapist and physiotherapy teacher in Finland, Sweden Norway, UK, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. I have been advising and assessing physiotherapy curriculae in many European and Far Eastern Universities. Currently I lead a European Masters in Active Ageing Erasmus+ strategic Partnership Project. My interest currently is education and research in the topic of ageing, healthy ageing and age friendly society.

Mr Riku Mäkelä

Mr. Riku Makela works in Embassy of Finland in Singapore as the Counsellor for Innovation and Trade Affairs. In this role, he represents Finnish innovation system in Singapore and ASEAN region to foster collaboration in knowledge exchange, research, innovation, business and investments. Health technology is a main focus sector for these efforts. Prior to his role in Singapore, Mr. Makela has created connections for Finnish innovators and companies in Hanoi, New Delhi, Silicon Valley and Finnish cities Helsinki and Pori. Before his government career, he marketed healthcare devices and IT solutions globally in Datex-Ohmeda unit of Finnish multinational company Instrumentarium (today part of GE Healthcare) and developed digital solutions for industry as an entrepreneur in Remtec Systems Ltd. He holds MSc degree in technical physics with focus on medical technology and biophysics from Helsinki University of Technology (today part of Aalto University).

Ms Leena Mäki

Leena Mäki is working as Managing director at Korpinen. She has over eight years experience on a field of accessible environment and bathrooms solutions. Her business activities and network are complemented with the collaboration of several MedTech companies in Scandinavia by the board membership. She has strong leadership and marketing experience with a demonstrated history of working in the elderly care and consumer service industry.

Mr Ville Mujunen

Ville Mujunen has seen the internet business growth during the last 25 years from the very emerging edge during his career in international telecom and internet companies. Ninchat has grown to be one of Europe's largest digital health platforms measured by the service usage. Ville is fascinated in the possibilities of emerging technologies and the internet business ecosystem. Ville is the CEO of Ninchat, a secure digital messaging platform from Helsinki, Finland.

Mr Janne Niittymäki

Janne Niittymäki, CEO and Co-Founder, GoodLife Technology, Finland. Janne is a former game developer. Nowadays he is designing technology driven innovations for healthcare, especially in the field of physical rehabilitation. Janne‘s personal ambition is to use the latest technology, but in a modest way, so that users are not intimidated by technology. After two decades of being involved in R&D, Janne still gets excited when he sees a design where technology is working for us and we are not working for the technology. GoodLife is introducing a Remote Trainer: A Telehealth solution to integrate physical exercise library instructions with any existing video conferencing tool.

Mr Juhana Ojala

Juhana Ojala has over 10 years of experience in eHealth and mHealth, across both the Nordics and international markets. He has been driving Finland's national service model for "Virtual Care for elderly" concept as the CEO of VideoVisit Ltd. Juhana is especially passionate about digitalising elderly care services with Virtual Care solutions that help benefit both the care providers as well as elderly living independently in their own homes.

Mr Jussi Peltonen

Jussi Peltonen is the founder of Hovi Care and chairman of Hovi Group. The Hovi Group companies are specialised in evidence-based care services for the elderly and those with special needs. Hovi Group operates care services in nursing homes, daycare centres, senior villages, as well as home care services. Jussi and his team have harnessed their extensive experience and developed best practices for managing and operating senior daycare centres and assisted living. With a global expansion in mind, Hovi Group is now looking for new franchisees to share her passion for offering person-centric and quality services to seniors. He is also a strong believer and a forerunner in utilising technology to create new and more effective services for care professionals in engaging seniors and people with special needs.

Ms Anu Pennanen

Ms. Anu Pennanen works as Key Account Manager at Korpinen Finland being responsible for the export operations and the Scandinavian sales support. The international experience and knowledge in sales, quality management and training are the basis for this task. Her passion is in customer service, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning. Anu Pennanen has Master’s degree in Education/Home Economics as well as in Service Design.

Mr Pauli Tarna
