Maleena trained as a Food Scientist at King’s College London in the 80s. Since then, her career has spanned six countries. In all civilisations, food serves three main purposes - nourishment and preservation of health/life; maintaining social/cultural bonds and rituals (meal times, celebrations, festivals); for enjoyment. In her spare time, Maleena enjoys visiting farms and markets, as well as cooking for her family and friends. Apart from helming Education and Training at her hospital, she also teaches Health Literacy courses at NUS. To live long and well, she advocates a six-pronged approach to good health: eating well, sleeping well, moving or exercising well, managing stress, controlling any form of addiction (tobacco, alcohol, etc.), and cultivating good relationships. She is a certified Mindfulness teacher, facilitating sessions on Mind & Brain health for all.
